Chandigarh doctor slams 5-star hotel for disgusting, unhygienic conditions

Pune: A Chandigarh-based alternative medicine practitioner recently shared her disappointing experience at a 5-star hotel in Pune, where she was given unhygienic, used items and the manager, instead of addressing her problems, dismissed her complaints.

Dr Ajayita alleged that her room was changed without prior intimation at check-in, but the hotel staff offered no explanation or apology. Despite the
inconvenience, she chose to adjust to the situation. However, the issue
escalated when Dr. Ajayita returned from the hotel’s spa and opened a sealed
comb package in her room, only to discover a used comb inside. Expressing her
dismay, she highlighted concerns about hygiene and service standards at the
establishment. She also informed that the general manager was dismissive of her
complaints which was “unacceptable.” Questioning the hospitality standards, she
stated, “5-star hotel with zero hygiene standards, recycled amenities, & a
General Manager who bullies customers? Unacceptable!”

Sharing her experience on
social media she stated, “Checked in to Hyatt Pune, only to find my room was
changed without any prior intimation. No explanation, no apology, no courtesy.
Just a silent switch. But I accommodated. But then I went to their spa, came back
to my room & opened a “sealed” comb package & found a comb
that looked USED! Recycled hotel amenities? Disgusting & unhygienic. If
they’re reusing combs, what else are they reusing? Toothbrushes? Horrifying to
even think about.”

She further added that when
she raised my concerns with GM, instead of listening to her complaints, he was
rude, condescending & dismissive. When the doctor reminded him to be polite
as a social media post can make or break reputations these days, he shouted at the
doctor behaving aggressively and even went on to the extent of saying, “Do what
you want, I’ll see what I need to do! I asked his permission to take his pic to
highlight the issue, he became nasty,” the doctor added.

Her complaint has sparked
discussions online, with many users calling for improved accountability in the
hospitality sector. The hotel has yet to issue an official response regarding
the incident. Responding to the doctor’s post many also shared similar incidents
of negligence by the hotel staff.

One posted, “I too had a horrible experience
at Hyatt in Jaipur. There was a lizard in the room roaming on the floor, when
complained about the same to the front desk they were very casual about it.
Nobody followed up on the feedback I sent. I found the staff at the reception
very arrogant.” Another pointed out, “I was there last month, and just as I
checked in, another couple just opened the door and entered the room!!! They
hadn’t checked out yet and I was allotted the same room!”
