Shri Arunish Chawla assigned to additional role of Chairman, National Pharmaceuticals Pricing Authority

New Delhi: In a recent notice, the Department of Pharmaceuticals, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertiliser, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has stated that Shri Arunish Chawla, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, has been assigned to the additional role of Chairman, National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA).

The decision was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) vide order No. 36/02/2024-EO(SM-1) dated August 1, 2024.

The notice stated, “Consequent upon approval of the ACC vide order No.36/02/2024- EO(SM-D dated 01.08.2024 for repatriation of Shri Kamlesh Kumar Pant, IAS (HP:93), Chairman, National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers to his parent cadre to avail the benefit of promotion and his relieving w.e.f. 14.08.2024 (AN); additional charge of the post of Chairman, National Pharmaceuticals Pricing Authority (NPPA) is assigned to Sh. Arunish Chawla, Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals w.e.f. 15.08.2024(F/N) for a period of three months or until new incumbent is appointed and in position or until further orders, whichever is earlier. This issues with the approval of competent authority.”

Retail prices of 70 formulations fixed by NPPA

Through a recent notice, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, the Government of India, has fixed retail prices of 70 formulations under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013.
This came in line with the decision of the 125th Authority meeting dated 25.07.2024 where the authority discussed new drug applications for price fixations under para 5 and para 15 of DPCO 2013.

MBBS, BDS Admissions 2024 under Management Quota: KNRUHS Invites Applications from NEET qualified candidates, check details

Telangana- Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) is is soon ging to close the window for online applications from Indian Citizens, NRI and Others who have qualified National Eligibility and Etrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024 for admission into MBBS/BDS Courses for the academic year 2024-25.

On this, KNRUHS has released a notification detailing the eligibility, fees and other details for the admission.

As per the notification, candidates who are willing to take admission to MBBS/BDS courses for the academic year 2024-25 can register online and upload scanned original certificates till 23rd August 2024 by 05.00 PM. Candidates who have secured the following cut-off in the NEET UG – 2024 examination are only eligible to apply for admission to MBBS and BDS courses under Management Quota in the State of Telangana.

The candidates need to pay Rs.6300/- through a Debit card/Credit card or Net Banking for the Registration and Processing fee. However, the registration and processing fees once paid will not be refunded or adjusted to a further date.

Moreover, candidates claiming NRI quota should also submit the following document from a Blood relative such as Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Uncle or Aunt only and should submit a declaration to that effect-

i NRI Sponsorship certificate ( Declaration form).

ii NRI status certificate of the financial supporter issued by the embassy of the respective country under their seal.

iii Copy of NRI Bank account passbook of the financial supporter.

iv Copy of Passport of NRI financial supporter.

v For OCI/PIO candidates citizenship card should be uploaded as proof.

Along with this, candidates should submit the print-out of the filled-in online application form and original certificates along with one (1) set of self-attested copies to the Principal of the allotted college at the time of joining for final verification. In case of any discrepancy, the provisional allotment order will be cancelled.

ELIGIBILITY

1 The candidates, who have qualified in NEET UG- 2024 by securing the above-mentioned cutoff score, have to apply for determining the State Merit position for Management Quota seats.

2 85% of the seats under Management Quota B Category for MBBS/BDS Courses in Medical & Dental colleges affiliated to KNRUHS are reserved for local candidates from Telangana state. The remaining 15% of the seats are open to candidates from all over the country including local candidates.

3 25% of seats under the Management Quota B category at Neelima Institute of Medical Sciences are reserved for local candidates from Telangana state.

4 Candidates from all over the country are eligible for admission into Management quota seats Category C (NRI) for UG Medical and Dental Courses.

5 Foreign Students / NRI candidates are eligible for admission into MBBS and BDS Courses under Management Quota Category–C Seats. Candidates should specifically put the option for NRI Category in the online application to be considered for NRI / C-Category.

6 Candidates who have already applied for Competent Authority Quota Seats are also eligible to apply for the Management Quota seats, but they have to apply afresh.

7 The candidate should have passed Intermediate (10+2 pattern) or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/ Biotechnology and English

i OC candidates should obtain not less than 50% marks in science subjects.

ii BC/SC/ST candidates should obtain not less than 40% marks in science subjects (for eligibility criteria only). There are no reservations in the Management Quota.

8 The candidate should have completed 17 years of age as on 31-12-2024. The candidates who do not complete 17 years as on 31-12-2024 are not eligible to apply.

9 The NEET-UG-2024 qualified and eligible candidates as per the concerned regulations who desire to take admission into MBBS/BDS Courses shall apply online and upload all original certificates for determining the Merit position for Telangana Management Quota seats. The online application can be filled out through any computer with an internet connection.

MANAGEMENT QUOTA SEATS

1 The MBBS/BDS seats available under Management Quota in all affiliated Colleges will be displayed on the KNRUHS official website before counselling.

2 The MBBS seats available under Management Quota in Neelima Institute of Medical Sciences will be displayed on the KNRUHS official website before counselling.

3 BDS seats in the Army Dental College are reserved for wards of Army Personnel only.

Amid the nationwide outrage and protest against the rape-murder of a Kolkata doctor, a shocking incident of assault has been reported from Rohtak where a first-year BDS student of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) was allegedly physically assaulted and harassed for the past 7 months by a resident doctor of MD Anatomy first year.
According to the student’s statement, the accused doctor was stalking her and persistently pressured her to enter into a relationship. However, when she refused, the alleged assault, harassment and torture began. Although the alleged harassment started 7 months ago, it came to light when she shared a note on social media revealing her disturbing and traumatic experience that took place on August 16 and 17.

Centre: AB-PMJAY provides free hospital care to 7.4 crore patients
As of June 30, 2024, the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) has authorized 7.37 crore hospital admissions totalling ₹1 lakh crore, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health. The scheme is active across 33 states and Union Territories.
According to an IANS report, the leading states in which Ayushman cards have been created under the PMJAY scheme include Madhya Pradesh with 402.5 lakh cards, Maharashtra (280 lakh), Karnataka (171.5 lakh) Jammu and Kashmir (85.9 lakh), Telangana (82.5 lakh), Tamil Nadu (73.6 lakh) and Meghalaya (19.76 lakh).

TN Health Releases Tentative Counselling Schedule for MBBS, BDS Admissions for Special Categories, details

Tamil Nadu- The Tamil Nadu (TN) Health has released the tentative counselling schedule for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in Tamil Nadu Government Medical and Dental Colleges for special categories for the academic session 2024-25.

As per the schedule, the counselling for special categories is scheduled for tomorrow i.e., August 22, 2024. The counselling is divided into 3 timings for Eminent Sports Persons, Children of Ex-servicemen and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities.

The counselling for the special categories will take place in the lecture hall– II, Tamil Nadu Government Multi-Super Speciality Hospital. Candidates should be present one hour prior to the commencement of counselling along with one of their parents at their own cost. Below is the detailed tentative schedule-

MCC notifies on Eligibility Criteria for AIIMS Foreign National Seat Quota, check Details

New Delhi- Through the notice, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has informed about the eligibility criteria for the ‘Foreign National Seat Quota’ of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

As per the notice, it is informed that as per the instructions received by MCC from the competent authorities of AIIMS, only foreign nationals and OCI candidates (holding foreign passport/citizenship and paying fee in foreign currency) are considered eligible for ‘Foreign National Quota’ of AIIMS.

However, Indian citizens, NRIs and NRI sponsored are not considered eligible for the ‘Foreign National Seat Quota’ of AIIMS.

The notice further informed that if any candidate is allotted a seat (by MCC counselling software) in AIIMS Foreign quota, who does not fulfil the eligibility criteria, then admission of the said candidate will be cancelled at the level of AIIMS itself at the time of reporting.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is an organisation under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) affiliated to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and responsible for allotting seats for undergraduate, postgraduate and super-speciality medical and dental courses in government-run/aided colleges and deemed-to-be-university colleges. It allows seats online based on the candidate’s score in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Factors considered during allotment are merit, reservation eligibility and the preference list submitted by the candidate. Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has been entrusted with the responsibility to hold on-line Counselling for 15% AIQ seats for UG courses, 50% AIQ seats for PG courses & 100% seats in Super-specialty courses (DM/Mch), as per various Gazette notification of NMC, various Court orders & notifications of MoHFW.
