Uttar Pradesh-  Uttar Pradesh Director General, Medical Education (UPDGME) has released the schedule for the 2nd round of online counselling for admission to state quota seats of the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) course in Government/Private Dental Colleges/Universities of Uttar Pradesh.

As per the schedule, the 2nd round of online counselling for admission to MDS courses in Uttar Pradesh state will commence from 30th July 2024 and will end on 8th August 2024. The detailed schedule is given below-

Meanwhile, the academic session for MDS courses will begin from August 1, 2024.

The Department of Medical Education plays a pivotal role in developing medical and para-medical personnel to cater to the state’s health needs. The department also has a role to play in establishing and maintaining well-equipped teaching institutions, which are the premier referral centres from peripheral hospitals. Research is another area of activity for the medical education department. The directorate facilitates comprehensive medical and dental education via various medical, dental and paramedical colleges in the state of Uttar Pradesh. On the other hand, it also provides standard medical facilities to the patients.

How to apply?

Interested candidates may apply for interview by submitting the pre-filled prescribed format (Annexure A) on the day of interview with attested photocopies of Matriculation certificate, proof of age, Caste Certificate, MBBS, Diploma/Degree certificate, attempt certificate of MBBS & Diploma/PG, valid DMC/MCl/State Registration Certificate & Experience Certificate, along with originals. Candidates should also bring two recent passport size photographs along with proof of residence.

The candidates are advised to bring their all Original Certificates with one set of self-attested photocopies of the following during document verification.

Terms & Conditions :-

• Private practice of any kind will not be allowed.

• No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for appearing in the walk-in-interview.

• Reservation for PWD candidates is as per rule.

• The Medical Superintendent reserves the right to alter the date or cancel the interview without assigning any reason thereof.

More than 3000 examined at mega medical camp in HP

Dharamshala: More than 3000 people were examined at the mega medical camp organised on the birthday of the late GS Bali at the Senior Secondary School of Nagrota on Friday.

The mega medical camp featured around 50 specialist doctors from various institutions

According to a UNI report, the team of doctors from Dr BL Kapoor Hospital Delhi, Rotary Eye Hospital Palampur, Fortis, Dr RP Govt Medical College Tanda, Himachal Dental College Sundarnagar, and for the visually impaired, the team of doctors from IIT Delhi and Samak Sansthan checked the patients in the medical camp.

Free medicines were distributed, and medical tests were also provided free of charge in the medical camp.

Along with this, an eye checkup was also done, and spectacles and hearing aids were also distributed free of charge to the patients.

Apart from this, food and drink arrangements were also made for the patients during the camp, and transport facilities were also provided for the people to come and go from remote areas. The medical camp will conclude tomorrow, adds news agency UNI. 

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that in an effort to enhance medical care for patients, over 600 staff nurses and 43 Operation Theatre Assistants (OTAs) will be deployed at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Shimla, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced. Additionally, 30 posts of Medical Officers (MOs) are being filled to strengthen the department of emergency medicines at IGMC, he remarked.

While presiding over a meeting of the Health Department here, the Chief Minister emphasised the state government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services in IGMC and other medical colleges. He highlighted the augmentation of infrastructure and filling of vacant posts for doctors, paramedical staff, and technicians to ensure specialised medical care within the state.

CATEGORY I- Registered candidates who did not get any seat allotted in the 1st round.

CATEGORY II- Registered candidates, whose first round of allotted seats got Cancelled during the documents verification on reporting for admission, who have secured a seat under reserved quota, due to a change of category from reserved to Unreserved or PWD status from yes to No, but are still eligible in the next round of seat allotment, with changed Category, subject to fulfilment of eligible conditions.

CATEGORY III- Candidates who have reported/joined at the allotted institute during the joining period of round-1 of allotment and submitted willingness for participating in 2nd round up-gradation as ‘yes’.

CATEGORY IV- Candidates who exited during Round 1 availing of Free Exit can log in again with their earlier registered details.

CATEGORY V- Candidates who did not register in Round 1 can do fresh registration and participate directly in Round 2.

The following candidates are not eligible for 2nd Round of allotment-

a Candidate who has become non-eligible due to having inadequate documents as per Eligible Criteria as per Punjab Govt. notification/MCC/Prospectus/DCI.

b Who have not registered in Round-1 or Round-2.

Q1 After allotment of seat in 2nd Round of online counseling does the candidate need to join the allotted seat?

A No, it is not mandatory to join the allotted seat, however, in case the candidate does not join, the refundable security deposit will be forfeited.

Q2 After joining the Second Round of Counseling, whether one can leave/ resign the allotted seat?

A Once the applicants join the 2nd round seat, he/she will be allowed to leave/resign the seat within the stipulated time. However, in case the candidate leaves/resigns/surrenders the seat allocated in round two or the already allotted seat in round one, the refundable security deposit will be forfeited.

Q3 If a candidate does not report at the allotted college during Round 2 whether he have to register again for Round- 3?

A Yes, Candidate security amount will be forfeited and he can participate in Round 3 only with Fresh registration and security deposit

Q4 Whether the candidate can upgrade the Round 2 allotted seat during Round -3?

A Yes, the candidate can upgrade the Round 2 allotted seat during Round 3. In case, the candidate will join the upgraded/allotted seat in Round 3, he/she will not be allowed to resign/leave the seat.

Q5 If the candidate does not join the allotted/upgraded seat during Round 3, whether the security deposit be forfeited?

A Yes, the security amount will be forfeited and the candidate will not be eligible to participate in further rounds of counselling.

Q6 When will the conversion of seats to open merit be carried out?

A The conversion of seats of NRI and any reserved category after exhausting all candidates in a relevant category will be carried out during Round 3. The said conversion will be done only when the eligible Candidates belonging to the said Conversion Category have exhausted.

Q7 What are the circumstances wherein the refundable security deposit will be forfeited?

A Under the following circumstances the refundable security deposit will be forfeited-

i Where a Candidate has been allotted a seat in Round -2 or subsequent rounds and does not report at the allotted college to complete the admission process

ii The Security Deposit will be forfeited if the admission gets cancelled after allotment due to any reason. E.g., in case the candidate gives wrong information at at the time of registration on the basis of which a seat may be allotted and later cancelled by the Admission Authorities at the time of reporting or fails to produce the required documents at the time of admission.

Dr Ashutosh Gupta gets extension as GMC Jammu Principal

Jammu: Prof Ashutosh Gupta will
continue to serve as Principal of the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu as
the Health and Medical Education Department of the Jammu and Kashmir Government
has extended his tenure to acknowledge exceptional service and leadership in
healthcare.

This decision highlights
his unwavering dedication to patient care and administrative excellence,
continuing his role beyond the initially appointed term. Prof Ashutosh Gupta worked
as the Professor and Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology and he assumed
the role of Principal at GMC Jammu last year for a one-year term, following the
removal of former principal Shashi Sudan Sharma, who faced allegations of
tampering with her date of birth.

According to the latest
Government Order No. 483-JK (HME) dated July 23, 2024, “In continuation of Government
Order No. 583-JK (HME) of 2023 dated 25.07.2023 and in the interest of
administration and patient care, Professor (Dr.) Ashutosh Gupta, professor and
head department of radiation oncology, Government Medical College Jammu
shall continue to hold the charge of the post of principal, Government Medical
College Jammu in addition to his duties till further orders.” The order was issued by Dr Shahid Abid
Rashid Shah (IAS), secretary to the government on 23rd July 2024.

Since his appointment, Prof Gupta has been
involved in spearheading various initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure,
fostering research opportunities, and ensuring high-quality medical education
for students. Under his leadership, GMC Jammu has navigated numerous
challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, while maintaining superior
standards of healthcare delivery. His efforts have been widely recognized
within the medical community who appreciate his contributions to transforming
GMC Jammu into a centre of excellence in medical education and healthcare.  

Living a message for his
